Middle East Updates

February 20, 2011

Well, tension continued to build in the Middle East. Libyian troops are begining to defect and this unrest all continues to spread. Libya registers as a fairly large oil producer, so now the US stakes draw higher.

The thing that is arguably most interesting is Egypt allowing Iranian war ships to pass through the Suez. This has been delayed until Wednesday for “unnamed reasons” but obviously Israel and the US are pissed. Debka says that the Iranian ships have already gone through, and the “delay” was announced to shadow their transit. Debka claims the ships have long range missiles which they will drop off in Syria. There are now dozens of “reasons” for the US to start taking military action in a variety of places. I don’t pretend to know whats next but whats clear is the situation is getting more unstable.
